How to buy and download Kindle books on iPhone and iPad

You don't need a Kindle to access Amazon's vast library of e-books. With your Amazon account and the Kindle app, you can buy, download, and read all your favorite books right on your iPhone or iPad. Let's show you how.

Unfortunately, you can't buy e-books directly from the Amazon Kindle mobile app as it doesn't support in-app purchases anymore, but there is a workaround for that.

Follow the steps below to purchase and download Kindle e-books on your iPhone or iPad.

First, create an Amazon account if you haven't already. Go to the Hello, Sign In tab at the top, select Start Here, and enter your details to sign up.

Make sure you have the Kindle app installed on your iPhone or iPad. Open the app and sign in with your Amazon account.

In the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad, go to the Kindle Store. Don't hit any prompts to open the Amazon app and stay in the browser. Sign in with your Amazon account via the Sign in tab at the top.

Type the title of the book you want in the top search bar. Also enter the author's name to limit the search.

Select the book you want from the search results. If it does not appear, it is most likely not available on Amazon.

On the purchase page, select the Kindle option.

Scroll down a bit until you see Deliver to, open the dropdown menu, and select your device. If your device is not listed, choose Your Kindle Library.

Click on Buy Now with a single click. Enter your Amazon payment details if you haven't already saved them to your Amazon account. You will be directed to a page notifying you that your purchase was successful and the book has been added to your Kindle library.

Restart the Kindle app. At the bottom, make sure to choose Library. Here's your new book too! To start reading, just click on it. All your purchased books will be available for offline reading.

Although turning off in-app purchases in the Amazon Kindle app may prevent you from purchasing and downloading your favorite books directly to your iPhone or iPad, you now have a workaround.
